PHOSPHATE EXPLOITATION : A New factory announced in Congo

The project, set to launch in May 2025, was discussed during a meeting between the South African billionaire and Congolese President Denis Sassou N’Guesso in Brazzaville.
Investment in the phosphate extraction project in Hinda, in the Kouilou region, was the focal point of the meeting between President Denis Sassou N’Guesso and South African businessman Patrice Motsepe on April 24 in Brazzaville. With an investment of XAF 360 billion, the South African billionaire announced that the plant’s effective launch is planned for May 2025.
Patrice Motsepe, the owner of African Rainbow Capital (ARC), intends to invest $600 million, which is over XAF 360 billion, in the realization of the mining project in Hinda. During the working session, the South African billionaire and the Congolese president discussed the challenges of this mining extraction project and its socio-economic impact.
Another meeting is scheduled in five months, in September, to finalize the remaining details of the project. « We presented the progress of the project to the president. We plan to launch the plant in May next year. It is a very important mining project that will create hundreds of jobs. In September, we will provide an update on this matter, » assured Patrice Motsepe.
Negotiations regarding the phosphate and other fertilizer extraction plant in Hinda began in August 2022, with meetings involving the leadership team of ARC. Located about 40 km from Pointe-Noire, the Hinda site is known for its high concentration of nitrogen and potassium, two essential elements in phosphate composition. This promising mining project is expected to have a significant impact on the economy and job creation in the Kouilou region.
