ORABANK BENIN : Josiane Tchoungui quits as General Director
The Cameroonian did not give the reasons for her departure, much less her next destination. Still, this decision comes the day after the Vista Group acquired the shares of ECP, BIO, DEG, Proparco and Envol Africa in Oragroup S.A, the holding company of Orabank based in Lomé.
Cameroonian banker Josiane Tchoungui, General Manager of the Beninese subsidiary of Oragroup since 2018, has just announced her departure from the bank. She quits saying she is looking forward to new horizons.
« After nearly five years at the head of Orabank Benin, I am leaving my post for new professional horizons. My first words of thanks go to Oragroup and the Board of Directors of Orabank Benin who have chosen my modest person and entrusted me with the mission of leading the destinies of this beautiful bank for five years full of challenges », she says on her LinkedIn account.

This decision comes a day after the Vista Group acquired the shares of ECP, BIO, DEG, Proparco and Envol Africa in Oragroup S.A, Orabank’s holding company based in Lomé and operating in 12 West and Central African countries including : (Togo, Ivory Coast, Benin, Senegal, Burkina Faso, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Niger, Chad, Gabon, Mauritania). This transaction allows Vista to become a majority shareholder on the Board of Directors of Orabank with 61.4% of the shares.
Josiane Tchoungui is graduate of the Catholic University of Central Africa, in Yaoundé ; the London Business School in London and HEC Paris, and endowed with extensive experience in the banking sector. She was notably deputy Director General of Bgfi Cameroon. Before that, she held important senior positions within the Cameroonian subsidiaries of Ecobank and Standard Chartered Bank.
