PROASSUR : Wafa Assurance subsidiary Gets New General Manager
Wilfrid Midongo is the new Managing Director of ProAssur, a subsidiary of Wafa Insurance. His appointment was formalized by the Board of Directors of the company, held in the city of Douala, Cameroon.
With more than 15 years to his credit in the insurance and reinsurance sector, he takes the reins of this insurance company operating in the non-life branch at the time it recorded a negative net result of 630.2 million FCFA in 2022. Wilfrid Midongo will therefore have as his main challenge, to lead the company to a radiant year 2023.
Wilfrid Midongo graduated from the Higher Institute of Technologies (I.S.T) Gabon class of 1996 – 1999. Two years later, he joined the Ecole Supérieure d’assurances (ESA) in Paris (2001-2004). After graduating from ESA, he began his career in June 2005 as a Business Manager at Axelliance Entreprise where he worked as a property and casualty wholesaler broker : Prospecting, looking for direct insurance investment solutions for the French market.
Then, he made a career as a financial risk underwriter at AIG Paris (French insurer that covers all types of business risks and specialized risks) before joining Ogar Assurances Gabon in 2009 where he spent nearly 9 years. In his capacity as Property and Casualty Underwriting (Fire, Accidents and Various Risks) and Health Director, he was in charge of animating, monitoring and developing the brokerage activity within the company ; setting up a property and Casualty & Health underwriting policy ; analyzing commercial, technical, legal, socio-economic developments likely to affect insurance products and contracts and placement ; setting up, development of Affinity deals, Bancassurance, micro-insurance, to name a few. After his Executive MBA obtained at HEC Paris, Wilfrid Midongo rejoins Ogar Assurances as CEO where he spent more than 4 years.
